It’s a beautiful day here at the foot of the Cotswolds so it won’t surprise you to hear that I intend to spend most of my quality time today outdoors. But as I was doing a bit of “site seeing” in preparation for the week’s food blogging to come, I saw a theme developing. Coffee. And as readers will know, I love a bit of trivia when it comes my way so I thought I’d share.
- The Man Named Josephus: Why We Call Coffee “A Cup of Joe” via one of my favorite sites – The Kitchn – I did not know this. And now I do. I am now prepared for the day that it comes up during Trivial Pursuit.
- Speaking of coffee – there are more than 1,000 chemicals in a cup of coffee.
- According to the folks at Eagle Creek Coffee, Bach wrote a cantata about coffee between 1732 and 1734. – not that I had any reason to disbelieve this but it sounds so weird, I had to check it out and turns out, yes he did.
- There is a coffee museum near me? Well, relatively near – in London. The Bramah Museum of Tea and Coffee. Hmmmm… I don’t care particularly for tea but it does have an interesting history. Actually, poking around I have found quite a few coffee museums – and not surprised to see that many of them cover both beverages.
